So with my art and society class today we went to St. Paul's Cathedral and climbed all the way up to the top. MY LEGS ARE STILL BURNING. It was totally worth it though because I was able to get some great shots. I'm going to talk about the Blitz...yes, again. Just being at St. Paul's and wondering what it must have been like that night when the Germans were bombing. That must have been terrifying.
Anyway, it was interesting to walk around the Cathedral and see the architecture and the paintings and the sculptures. The creepy thing was going down to the crypt. The old St. Paul's Cathedral started construction in 1087. In 1666 the great fire on London destroyed the Cathedral. Christopher Wren then designed a new plan for the Cathedral.
I really liked the whisper gallery. If you whisper into the wall, people on the other side of the room can hear it. It's so cool! After the whisper gallery we climbed through narrow passageways and low ceilings that had an angle to them. I wasn't the biggest fan of those small spaces but it was worth being uncomfortable! I added a video at the bottom that I took while climbing the 528 steps to the top. I also added a video of the prayer that was said while we were at the Cathedral but I added pictures of the interior from the internet because you are not allowed to take pictures inside.
After wandering around the Cathedral my roommates and I decided to walk across Millennium bridge. I really liked it because there was a perfect view of the dome. Plus, Millennium bridge is seen in the beginning of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when the bridge collapses.
Since our apartment was freezing by the time we got back from our adventure, we made dinner and had the fire on. I loved it! Fall is officially here and it's almost time for winter!
